KEN PEARSON

Ken has been tinkering with photography his entire life, the last twenty-five years of it in a full time professional capacity. Bridging the transition from film to the digital era, emerging from darkroom to light-room (the smell of which he far prefers). Acting in a consultative role to photo-artists of international repute he has prepared and printed photographic collections that have been exhibited all over the world.

Specialising in the assembly of and support for large format photographic printing systems for most of the higher and further education establishments in the South West Peninsula, as well as many further afield, he has regularly been found coaching both faculty and technical staff how to get the best from their equipment, along with training the student body how to best present their work for output. He was also partly responsible for the writing and presentation of the ‘Colour Management’ module for the Photo Laboratory NVQ course.

"I am an Exeter-based photographer and professional ecologist who specialises in nature, travel and street photography. I specialise in particular in macro work with insects.

I have been a photographer since the late 1970s and moved from film to digital in 2006. I currently shoot with Olympus cameras and lenses but have owned and am very familiar with a wide range of makes including Canon, Nikon and Fuji.

As of 2019 I am an official Olympus Mentor.

I have won a number of awards for my work in recent years; I have held Licentiateship and Associate

Distinctions (in nature photography) with the Royal Photographic Society for a number of years, and

recently had two successful entries to the 'Countryfile' competition for my wildlife work. I recently had a major category win and two commended images in the 2018 British Wildlife Photography Awards

('Hidden Britain' category winner)."
